If my car can survive Detroit it can survive anything.

I wanna party with that guy..

I'm a cartoonist/creator of mass graphic ramblings on the web and off. I'm also that dork that does the graphics for the S.P.A.C.E. show. I paint, draw, design, and drop the beats.

yo!

I'm not kidding. As soon as we hit Michigan, it was like we took the car off road. My fronts held up though the tread still looks dodgy. Mans I need to get that replaced. Another SNAP! has come and gone. Turn out was a bit slow this year. Maybe due to the upcoming election. I did manage to make the money back on my table but not the same as I did the year previous. Maybe (like SPACE this year) it was a ill timed. Didn't have a camera on me so I drew some folks.

I'm exhausted. Running on 4 1/2 hours of sleep: it's time to crash. I sat inbetween Eric Adams and David Beyer. Met the lovely Rosemary Van Deuren at the show who's work definitely snapped me out of my late night fog. (uhh that links not work-friendly if you get my meaning) Ate half of Poland. Man, how much cabbage can one eat? Thanks to everyone who came out. It's all kind of a blur right now.

We didn't stay for the impromptu Dr. Sketchy's session going on in the bar but the fellas and I checked out Green Brain. Good lord I almost curled up in a fetal ball of happy. It's like my old store before the chain took over. Loads of stuff I haven't seen which made me exclaim ' D!#n it. They got this??' every two seconds. I'm talking new Brian Ralph, that anthology that Marc Bell edited, a new Paul Hornschemier collection, etc. I could of dropped a lot of money in there but settled on the gorgeous Gilded Leaves book by Jillian Tamaki.

My new SPB mini is ready for purchase. Full color. 36 pages for $4 (includes s&h) Paypal's being weird again with the button I generated the other day. The University of Michigan's Library bought up my comics. So what's the big hang-up with the OSU Cartoon Library coming to SPACE... huh?? Get your head out of Dilbert's butt and buy some comics. O-h-i-o is slippin' yo.

  • Man, great sketches. I might be driving down from Cleveland to Mid-Ohio, will you have a table there this year?
    • thanx man.

Yup, I'm doing MOC. I really debated it though. They started charging talent for tables this year. Which if there weren't a certain editor showing up for it, I would have totally passed. I'm tired of breaking even on tables at shows anymore. That was the only reason I've been doing Mid Ohio for the past two years.

I know MOC's been in the minority for table fees but that's crazy. I don't know what Gem City (Dayton) charged for tables but $3 gets you in the door and it's all the same dealers from MOC. No sad 'celebrity' parade. Just creators and comics. Hopefully they'll do it again next year.
  • Those sketches are really cool!

Hey, this is Rosemary (Van Deuren). Hope you don't mind I added you as a friend here on the ol' LJ.

I posted some pics from the con on my site if you're interested.

Love the books, btw; they're awesome.
    • Thanks Rosemary. It was nice meeting you Saturday. I love artist blogs.
